Build Your Bid Day Outfit

By: Kendall Miller

Bid day can be one of the most exciting but nerve wracking days of the school year, stressing over what to wear to find your forever sisters shouldn’t be another thing on your mind! Below we have included some ideas for what to wear to bid day and some tips from current sorority sisters at ASU to help you get through the day.

Tip #1: Stick to more neutral colors! Whatever you wear should blend well with your top sororities bid day theme. Wearing more muted or neutral colors can help to ensure you don’t clash with whatever bid day shirt or merch you are given by your sisters to welcome you home!

Tip #2: Comfort is important!  As you have probably already experienced, the recruitment process can be long and grueling days and bid day doesn’t stray too far from that. Many girls opt for athleisure pieces like tennis skirts, neutral rompers or casual flowy dresses to stay comfortable. If you want to be a little more stylish I would go for your favorite denim bottoms like jeans or a jean skirt; a mini skort like the viral Danielle Guizio one (or a dupe ;)) could be a perfect fit as well!

Tip #3: Along the same lines as above, wear comfortable shoes!  You will be standing on your feet for most of the day and wearing heels or doc martens will not serve you well even if it makes your outfit cuter. Opting for classic sneakers, or even ballet flats if that’s more your vibe, is a much better idea.

Tip #4: Dress cute but for the weather. If you go to school in a state like Arizona, don’t pull out your parka for bid day. The ASU bid day uniform is often jean shorts or skirt paired with a tank top/crop top. Making smart fashion choices will help you feel more confident while also staying relaxed on such an exciting day.

Tip 5#: Spice up your hair and accessories! Adding bows to your outfit or wearing your hair in a cool up-do can make for some cute pics and help you be a little more expressive of your style! I’ve seen girls do big curls, bubble braids, and half-up half-downs to mix up their look for bid day.

Tip #6: Saving the best tip for last… Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!  After getting your bid and running home it can be easy to get overwhelmed and intimidated seeing all of the girls, but remember you are not alone! Every girl there is or was in your exact same spot with probably the same feelings. Make an effort to introduce yourself and talk to as many sisters as you can, it will only be for the better in the end!

Good luck and have fun! Be friendly and don’t stress about it too much. Everything happens for a reason.
